Calling all EarlyWork ladies!
Join Ladies Who Lit, Early Work, Joy Machine and Chicago artists Haylie and Sydnie Jimenez for an evening with the Ladies Who Lit book club event exploring unexpected and exciting connections between 2015 National Book Award finalist, The Turner House by Angela Flournoy and visual art on view in Chicago right now.
Ladies Who Lit is a book club and a place where women can come together to celebrate the stories we read while also diving deep on current events and culture, politics, women’s issues and more, all through the lens of literature by women.Ladies Who Lit's August book club pick is The Turner House, a beautiful rumination on emotional inheritance, and a thorough portrait of an evolving place—specifically, Detroit’s East Side—as seen through the lens of one big, multi-generational family. We'll be discussing the novel at Joy Machine within the context of the gallery's latest joint exhibition of ceramic and mixed-media works by Chicago artists Haylie and Sydnie Jimenez, on view August 9 to September 20, 2025.
