Join EarlyWork at cam.contemporarie for an exhibition preview of Revisionist History, the first solo exhibition in Chicago by Providence based artist, Tyanna Buie. Revisionist History features works appropriated and reappropriated from 17th Century Dutch engraved portraits of political leaders. In collaboration with ChatGPT, their history and stories are rewritten and reimagined as a triumphant narrative that considers the irreparable geographical and socio ecological ramifications of colonialism.
EarlyWork members are encouraged to attend this intimate preview with curator and cam.contemporarie founder, Ciera Alyse McKissick, and artist Tyanna Buie in advance of the public opening for Revisionist History taking place later in the week. Members will get to know the artist and learn about the works on view as well as their practice at large, and we'll also chat with Ciera about the mission of cam.contemporarie and what it means to operate a project space and support the growth of emerging artists.
